Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?

I love mornings in our house when the kids are not screaming and we are all awake. Such belly laughs we have.

This morning Tayler was sitting on the couch with me and I was holding Willow.

I was talking to Willow in a high pitch funny voice: "You are so beautiful. AND you haven't peed on anything in a while. Good girl!"

Tayler said, "That's because she is getting lots of attention."

We agreed since the vet said that the urination on our things was a behavior problem.

Tayler considered the amount of attention that Willow requires: "I seriously want a cat binky."

I wasn't sleeping anyway

I think it's a fabulous thing I didn't have more children- I would be pretty grouchy waking up in the middle of the night all over again, judging by how I've been feeling about it lately.

The cats are running around attacking each other and making purring kitten noises per usual. It's a good thing kittens are so cute.

They disturb my sleep every night.

Not like I was sleeping, tonight, though. Wide awake. TEH SUCK.

OMG Cute!

We were on the balcony the other night and Tayler looked down and saw some cats.

"OMG look at the cute cats!"

"Tayler," I said, peering over the balcony wall, "those are rabbits."

Milo

Two Cats

We rescued two kittens this week.

The girl is named Willow, and she is so sweet.

Tyler named the boy Milo, but this guy ought to be named Houdini.

We suspect, though, that Willow made a mess in Tayler's room because she doesn't seem to be house trained. We weren't sure so we put each cat in a bathroom when we left the house.

We were surprised to find that even after locking the door from the outside, Mr. Milo still was able to escape.

I brought him into the bathroom to see how he does it.

He hops onto the sink, takes a paw to the door and lock and is free! Read more

Kitty Psychosis

Anyone who has been to my house knows about Ezra. The twins and I picked her out from the Cat Welfare Association in 2001 and she's been a lovely addition to our family. She's very loving and is a nice lap cat.

But something's going on with Ezra we don't understand. About three years ago, she began licking her fur off. She wasn't excessively licking so that she had sores, she didn't have fleas, and she didn't seem to have a skin condition of any kind.

The vet was at a loss. He kept saying it must be fleas. But, none of our cats have fleas!

He tried a cortisone shot a couple of times, but it really didn't make a difference. Ezra kept on licking.

First she licked all of the hair off her belly. Then her back end. Recently fur began to grow back in these areas and we were thrilled. Perhaps she's finally been cured!

Then we noticed bald areas on her legs. Not the entire leg, just a swath that went diagonally on her front leg. Now her back legs are almost completely bald. This really has gone on long enough, and I'm not satisfied with our regular vet's diagnosis.

We chalked it up to nerves, or boredom, or perhaps psychosis. I'm hoping the new vet we are going to take the cats to will be able to answer the question and help her. Maybe she just needs some kitty Prozac or something.

*laughs*

I laughed so hard my lungs hurt just a moment ago when I threw one of the kids' swim shoes across the room and it accidentally grazed Echo. I've never seen a cat jump so high.

And, to continue

I think I'm that girl in class that everybody hates.

I wish someone would chat with me.

I think it's funny how I can feel really terrible, and then Echo suddenly knows its time to throw herself on the floor in front of me and roll around in almost a complete circle in her attempt to get my attention. And then Xanth starts head-butting my thigh. I love these cats.
