job

They asked me

Today I was talking with my project leader who has been out of the office a bit and it was 5:00. He said he didn't want to keep me but we could talk as long as I wanted.

Then at 5:08, he said, "You don't get over time do you?" and he told me he didn't feel comfortable keeping me late when I am not being paid for my time.

I was smiling when I left the office. They asked me to go home.

Then I took the train accompanied by the IT guy who lives north of Lund.

I just love the people at work. They are so nice.

P.S. We have a new woman in the office, and I spied another one later on. Maybe they were hiding my first day.

Job = Good

My first day at work was fantastic. While Swedes might not smile and say hello when you pass them in the street, they are like family at work. They want to know about you, your family, how is it going- all sorts of things.

I came in, had a whiplash introduction to all of the developers and programmers, and then got my first assignment, which was to convert old VB.Net code into C#.Net. It was fun, because I haven't been programming full time for a while now, and it was nice to just code the whole day.

People kept coming over and checking if I was ok, how was everything going, did I like my keyboard, was I able to understand the work that was given to me, did I need help, was the work fun, how am I today, do I want to go get lunch with them?

The VP came over in the afternoon and asked if I was ok. I really like him- I'm sure that his easy-to-like personality is one of the reasons he has the position as VP. I joked that no one had been mean to me yet, and he said if anyone was, to send them his way. The president of the company wants to have coffee with me tomorrow. He said he was really excited to get to know me.

I'm THIS happy!
