today

Today is the greatest

I want today to be a good day. Unfortunately I am not feeling so cheerful.

I am listening to the music I have managed to restore. It's a lazy Sunday morning. Tayler is playing a game on her computer, and I am writing here.

Tayler is taking up most of the couch laying on her stomach. I am taking up the rest.

I feel disappointed with myself today. I'm not really sure why because it is not like I've done much to be disappointed with, really. I make mistakes like everyone else.

Maybe it is just that I am having trouble with the cultural differences here. And I guess feeling lonely.

Plans

Helena and Micke have graciously taken the kids for the day.

I made plans with a member of the expats group to hit a few pubs in Copenhagen.

It would really make my day to have a good beer. They sell them by the bottle here in the Systembolaget and there is hardly any variety. Besides, Systembolaget is not open on Sundays.

It is amazing when I get a free day, how empty it feels. I hear the sounds of my broken heart, and want to turn on my iPod and play the music really loud.

I am down but not out.

Wedding

Today we attend Pernilla's wedding. Micke is doing the music for the wedding, and he's been picking out fun inappropriate, and fun appropriate songs. I told him he should add David Bowie and NIN's 'I'm Afraid of Americans.'

Pernilla and her friends were joking about seating me next to a person that they know that hates Americans, and I begged no!

I'll try and take pictures. I think it will be interesting to see a Swedish wedding, though I know it won't be traditional. On the invitation, the dress was described as:

Clothing: Yes, please.

Regardless, as I have been listening to Micke compile the music, and it sounds like a lot of fun. I think I will have a good time listening to the music alone, but I'm hoping to meet new friends during the reception as well.

I love weddings, but today I am dreading it. I know it's going to make me emotional and sad, thinking of Scott, and how our marriage failed.

But, the drinks are free. Perhaps it won't be so bad if I drink a few and dance the rest of the night through.

To Do Today

  1. ride the bike until I get tired I wish I could track my workouts each week ON the bike, but I will have to settle for on my heart rate monitor, which I neglected to use today, but will use from now on.

  7. cash checks that have been sitting in my purse for too long
  8. return some cds
  9. clear off the nook table
